Abstract

It can be argued that belief constitutes the foundation of human life translate in tamil. Before beginning any activity, people traditionally chose an auspicious time and an auspicious day. They believed that starting a task under such favorable circumstances would bring success and prosperity. It was also believed that these beliefs guided people toward the next stage of life and contributed to their well-being. Such beliefs have been passed down through generations and continue to be practiced even today. Many of the beliefs followed by the people of the Sangam age are still evident in contemporary human life. It is also widely accepted that every belief may have some underlying cause-and-effect relationship.
