Abstract

Meera, one of the pioneering poets of the Tamil free verse movement, occupies a distinctive place in Tamil literary history through her poetry collection Kukkoo. This article examines the themes embedded in the Kukkoo poems, including love, poverty, satire, the poet's feminist perspective, and the impermanence of human life. It also explores how the poet's simple yet incisive language stimulates the reader's imagination and critical thinking. Thus, this study presents a comprehensive analysis of the thematic richness and literary significance of Meera's Kukkoo poems.
