Abstract
All the literary creators structure their works with nature as the central theme. It is customary for writers born in lands of bountiful nature to highlight the environmental state of their homeland, reminding both the public and the government of their duty to protect it. Among such creators the works of writer Ponneelan, who vividly portrayed Kumari district - a land that stands as the very kingdom of nature - are truly unique. The lifestyle of the people of kumara district is in noway inferior to the life of ancient Tamils who structured their ways of living based on the five geographical landscapes. In particular, Ponneelan has brilliantly identified and highlighted the Maritime (Neithal) lifestyle of that region and the profound ecological wisdom of its people through his literary works.
